BACKGROUND

Concrete Logistics were brought in by a private client to assess a private property located in the exclusive area of Banana Island, Ikoyi.

During this assessment, leakages were noted from the roof/terrace slab floor despite the presence and the use of Bituminous Felt Membrane protection. Pooled water eventually found its way into the building through various outlets including the roof gutter joints. The leakages were most evident in the Client’s Bedroom and the Living Room

SOLUTION

The solution provided by the team included the removal of existing tiles and the damaged felt membrane, specialized surface preparations and surface treatment using Laticrete Hydro Ban and Laticrete 302. The entire joints between the internal walls and floors were fixed using Krystol crack/joint repair systems to render these areas watertight, while pipe penetration points were treated using the dedicated Krystol Pipe Penetration System.

This treatment is guaranteed to last the entire life of the concrete, which means no other forms of waterproofing (including bituminous felt) is required throughout the life of the concrete slab.
